Fantasy
book reviews
I love fantasy books, especially ones that are intelligent. There is
nothing better than to drop into the page of a well-written fantasy
novel and find a world of wonder to explore.

THE RUNES OF THE EARTH by Stephen Donaldson

Because
I'm so passionate about it, bad books tend to disappoint me
more than they should. They get thrown across the room when
they break the spell. This could be due to bad writing, implausible
plotting, or just downright cheesiness.
I'd rather re-read one really good book than power through twenty
mediocre ones.
But since
I'm a writer myself, I have no desire to cut into the work of
others with my rough-edged sword. There are enough cynics in the world,
and it's all too easy to find fault, much harder to
find a reason to praise that isn't just being patronising.
So you'll mostly find reviews of the books I like here.
The bad books ... well, they're outside the window.
These are my personal experiences from a writer's perspective.
